Here's a great event that you can be part of. There are multiple volunteer opportunities, from running games to handing out supplies and setup or tear down. So come on, how do you want to help? Email Julia Kirt at [masked] for more information.

The 2009 “Back to School” Block Party & Summer Blast is FREE and will be held on Saturday, August 8th from 10 am – 1:00 pm. This three-location event will give attendees a unique experience with more to do on three Church grounds simultaneously from Martin Luther King to 50th & Everest. Vans will be available to shuttle attendees back and forth to each location. This event has become nationally recognized.

FREE school supplies for specialized grade levels (elementary, middle & high school) will also be given away. However, some of the giveaways will include filled backpacks for the younger ones (while supplies last). This year the food, games, activities and more will be held at two of the churches; Northeast Church of Christ-4817 N. Martin Luther King and Quayle United Methodist Church/Community Youth Outreach (CYO) grounds-5001 N. Everest (off NE 50th). The backpacks giveaway will fall in the middle of the “Block Party” at Holy Temple Baptist Church-1540 NE 50th. Attendees are encouraged to pick up their school supplies and visit both churches’ locations to experience the wide variety of fun activities, chow down on a grilled hamburger and hot dog, or hop on the wide variety of inflatables and moon bounces, play some games and check out all the other exciting things to do. To get kids ready for school, free health & sports exams will also be offered.

This year’s “Block Party” sponsors from the NE Community; Holy Temple Baptist Church, Northeast Church of Christ, Quayle United Methodist Church, Rising Star Baptist Church, and Community Youth Outreach (CYO). From the Edmond area: Trinity Church of Edmond, and First Christian Church of Edmond will participate as event partners.
