Hey guys, the Homeless Alliance really needs our help. This is one of my favorite organizations because they bring creative solutions to cure homelessness in Oklahoma City. They have five children in their supportive housing program in need of school supplies. I have each of the lists from their schools with helpful hints listed, such as favorite colors, themes, etc. This will really make your job of finding the school supplies easy.

Please shoot an email to rexbarrett@loveokc.com ASAP as Oklahoma Public Schools begin on August 1st. Supplies need to be delivered to me by Wednesday, July 27th before 4:00p.

Midnight Streak - August 13 - City Arts Center

We’ve been very involved in the arts through the years. Sometimes we do the art and sometimes we volunteer for events that help fund the arts. This event will help City Arts Center raise funds for their fantastic programming. Seriously, click through and learn more about what they do.

The Midnight Streak is Saturday, August 13th and we have several different time slots from which to choose.

AIDS Walk OKC • July 14th • 5:30p • American Red Cross

Here we go with volunteer event number two. AIDS Walk OKC is one of my favorite organizations, worked with them for years. I’m on one of the committees and would love to invite you to join me for this meeting. I imagine you’re giddy with excitement as to what we’ll be doing, right?

Here’s the plan:
Arrive at the American Red Cross building just before 5:30p on July 14th.
Get buzzed in and get signed in.
Walk towards your right a bit and look for a hallway on your left.
Follow the hallway until you see a little sign that says, “AIDS Walk OKC.”
Help stuff/stamp envelopes for the mass mail-out.

I’d love to have a full house here, the more who show, the faster we knock this mailing out. Expect to work a couple hours, tops.

Here we go, our very first event together. I'm kinda excited about volunteering with you and look forward to meeting / hanging out with you through the evening.

Thank you so much for helping with deadCENTER! We're going to have a great time kicking off this film festival. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing, shoes that don't stop, and spray yourself down with some sunblock.

Please meet me at 6:00p just in front of Red Prime Steak between 4th and 5th streets on Broadway. (see what I look like at http://facebook.com/rexbarrett) There will be about 20 of us helping through the evening and I'll pass out assignments as people arrive. Please be flexible through the evening! Some tasks include setting up chairs, monitoring needs of festival attenders, running a very light security detail for a street performer, working with the family of the Kings of Leon, and tons of other stuff we'll only discover as the night goes on.

We will host the event between 4th and 5th streets on Broadway in downtown OKC. Your best bet, I learned from last year, is to find parking along either 4th or 5th, just off of Broadway, at a meter. Don't worry, they'll be free after 6:00p, just for you.

The film actually begins at 9:00p and will last 87 minutes. Then we'll tear down, clean up, and sweat just a touch.
